KARACHI: Medical experts have warned that monsoon rains in the city of Quaid may cause the spread of hepatitis A and E.
According to details at a seminar held at a private hospital and university in Karachi, Dr Gynecologist Dr. Waseem Jafri said that the number of hepatitis patients in Pakistan is around 1.5 million, most patients are hepatitis B and Suffering from 'C'.He said that hepatitis B is spreading to the liver while its second type (C) is causing the spread of cancer which is why Pakistan is second in the world where the number of hepatitis C patients is high.
Professor Waseem Jafri said that monsoon rains "can cause the spread of hepatitis A and E because the disease has already become dangerous in Sindh.
He said that hepatitis, also called liver inflammation, is essential for the liver to be healthy for life; hepatitis 'A' and 'E' are due to poor diet and contaminated water which are very common in Pakistan and rain. After the contaminated water is provided in the houses.
